Integration of modern genetic knowledge in the course “Genome organization”

Aim. To summarize the experience of teaching the course «Organization of the Genome» to substantiate the need to integrate the latest scientific data into the educational process and form a systematized complex of knowledge about genomes and molecular genetic technologies. Methods. Optimization of teaching methods with the content load of the course and the use of practically oriented problem-search tasks. Results. The course structure provides for the gradual formation and deepening of the system of knowledge about the structure, polymorphism, functioning and regulation of genetic systems. Special attention is given to the consideration of modern molecular genetic and information technologies of genomic analysis as a future methodological base for solving current applied problems. Conclusions. Formation of a network of modern knowledge among students regarding molecular genetic systems, the features of their functioning and mechanisms of regulation is an urgent need of today. The maximally integrated perception of the genomic component of biological systems is a prerequisite for the effective application of the acquired knowledge for genetic manipulations of various levels: from diagnostics to correction and editing.
