DETERMINATION OF TEST POINTS AND SETTINGS OF DISTANCE PROTECTION FOR SINGLE-PHASE FAULTS OFTHE 110 KV NETWORK IN POWER SYSTEM OF BIH

The basic protection of most high-voltage transmission lines in the power system is distance protection. For reliable operation and work of distance protection, it is necessary to properly calculate and set the appropriate parameters of distance protection, as well as testing of the specified protection. The main goal of the publication is reflected in the creation of a software tool that will automate the calculation. In addition, depending on the entered tolerance, the deviation of the impedance from the set value, the software tool will return test points by zone as an output. For inputs, the software tool uses the parameters of the desired transmission line, the ratio of the voltage and current measuring transformers, as well as the parameters for the shortest and longest transmission line in the neighboring substation. The outputs from the software tool are the settings of distance protection, and the creation of graphs of the quadrilateral characteristics of distance protection by zones. Based on the impedances, the software will create voltage and current values that must be injected in order for the distance relay to measure the required impedances. The purpose of creating the software tool is to test distance protection in situations where there is no available test box that automatically generates test points based on the rio file, or when there is an ordinary single-phase box is available. The values generated by the software tool will be tested on one of the digital distance relays.
