Numerical simulation and experimental verification on dynamic behavior of pilot-operated isolation valve
This research employs computational fluid dynamics (CFD), combined with user-defined functions (UDF) and dynamic mesh techniques, to simulate the opening and closing dynamics process of pilot-operated isolation valve. By comparing the thermal experimental results of valve, the simulation model established in this study can accurately simulate the dynamic performance of the isolation valve, and the average error between the simulation results and the experimental data is less than 5%. Utilizing this validated model, the influence degree of the main structural factors such as the aperture of the throttle component and the flow coefficient of the pilot valve, which affect the dynamic performance of the pilot isolation valve, is quantifies by orthogonal experiment, and the structural combination of the fastest opening response of the valve under accident conditions is matched. Findings indicate that the flow coefficient of the guide valve pipe is the primary governing factor during valve opening, whereas the throttle orifice size at the piston dominates the closing process.
