Research on DC Voltage Control Strategy of Grid-Forming Converter with Current Limiting Consideration
The grid-forming (GFM) converter has drawn great attention for its ability to provide inertia support and damping to the power grid. However, current limiting must be considered to ensure safe operation of the converter. To this end, this paper investigates the impact of current limiting on the DC voltage control strategy for GFM converter. First, a large-signal model for GFM converter is established to study the effect of different grid voltage faults on the DC voltage of GFM converter and analyze the causes of instability in GFM converter. Then, a virtual active power angle curve control method is proposed to alleviate the problem of DC bus voltage droop when the system equilibrium point exists, and improving the stability of the system. Finally, a MATLAB/Simulink simulation model is built. The simulation results show the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method.
