Total work done by a force
Abstract If work is done by a force on an extended object that rotates or compresses then the work done by F is usually defined as F multiplied by the displacement of the point of application of F . That definition is somewhat misleading since it actually describes the total work done by F . An example is described where a force is applied to two masses connected by a spring.
