LoRaWAN: A Long Range Wide Area Network Technology for Low Energy Consumption
The Internet of Things (IoT) connects devices to collect, exchange, and analyse data, transforming industries. Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) are a promising solution for IoT applications needing long-distance communication with low energy consumption. This paper examines LoRaWAN, a low-energy communication technology in northern Scandinavia, particularly Norway. Network performance is evaluated through measurements in various scenarios across northern and central Norway. The findings highlight opportunities to enhance energy efficiency and data transfer, supporting sustainability, smart building management, and other objectives.
