Fully-Actuated System Approaches Based Fault-Tolerant Attitude Control via Intermediate Variable Estimator

This paper investigates a Fault-Tolerant Control (FTC) method of a rigid spacecraft model using Fully-Actuated System (FAS) approaches. Leveraging the inherent fully-actuated characteristics, a fully-actuated spacecraft system was developed to account for actuator failures, facilitating the design of a fault-tolerant control strategy. An intermediate variable estimator(IVE) was employed to estimate system states and actuator faults, eliminating the need to know the system states and their higher-order derivatives. The convergence of observation errors was proven, and the proposed controller effectively handles actuator faults while ensuring system stability. Numerical simulations confirm the robust performance and effectiveness of the FAS-FTC scheme in maintaining fault tolerance and system stability.
