Ergonomic Assessment and Improvement in Manufacturing Using the RULA Method: A Case Study in an Electronics Manufacturing Company
This study aims to optimize productivity while concurrently enhancing the health and well-being of workers, thereby promoting sustainable production. It conducts a survey on the working conditions of employees at an electronics manufacturing company in Vietnam, utilizing the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. Subsequently, it recreates and quantifies the workers' operating procedures through the application of the RULA theory, enabling the identification of latent risks in the operational processes. Based on the findings, the study proposes improvements, including the readjustment of work tool dimensions and operating procedures, with the goal of mitigating the risk of musculoskeletal issues and progressing towards sustainable production. The research culminates in two proposed solutions, the most effective of which achieves a nearly 30% reduction in the risk score associated with anthropometric factors.
