A Network Communication Time Delay Compensation Strategy Based on High Order Predictive Control

In industrial internet of things (IIoT) and networked control systems (NCS), communication delays and packet loss remain primary challenges. Random time delays in communication channels can lead to system performance degradation or even instability. Traditional predictive control methods face issues of high model complexity and low computational efficiency when applied to high-order nonlinear systems. Inspired by the high-order fully actuated (HOFA) system theory which can bring a novel solution by directly addressing high-order system characteristics, this paper proposes a different predict control approach. First, a predictive controller is designed for nonlinear networked control systems with random delays and packet loss based on HOFA system theory. Second, data transmission is optimized through an event-triggered mechanism to reduce network load. Simulation results demonstrate that this method effectively mitigates the impacts of random delays and packet loss on system performance, enhancing the stability and robustness of the system.
