Sustainable Transportation and Electric Vehicle Adoption: Exploring Consumer Perceptions and Challenges
This study investigates consumer perceptions and challenges in adopting electric vehicles (EVs) in Bangladesh. Although EVs offer a promising alternative to conventional vehicles by reducing emissions and supporting global sustainability goals, their adoption in Bangladesh remains limited. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 207 respondents across corporate offices, banks, and academic institutions. The findings reveal that infrastructural limitations, lack of public awareness, and cost-related concerns significantly hinder EV adoption. The study highlights the need for integrated policies, enhanced public education, and technological advancement to accelerate EV uptake in Bangladesh. Regression analysis confirms infrastructure and technological readiness as primary predictors of EV purchase intent, underscoring the importance of addressing these issues to achieve a sustainable transport system.
