Interaction of atmospheric and space weather systems according to radio observations at the Ukrainian Antarctic station Akademik Vernadsky (a review)
The Ukrainian Antarctic Station Akademik Vernadsky (until 1996 the British Antarctic Base Faraday) is located in one of the most meteorologically active regions of the planet, in close vicinity of western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula.Additionally, this region lies on the edge of a magnetic anomaly, undergoes ozone hole formation during the Antarctic spring, and exhibits the ionospheric Weddell Sea anomaly in the summer.Given these unique conditions, the area presents a valuable opportunity for experimental studying the response of space weather to disturbances in the neutral atmosphere.Currently, we carry out this investigation as a part of the SCAR AGATA Scientific Research Program.
