The Mutual Coherence Function in HF Propagation

The mutual coherence function is an important tool in assessing the quality of communication and radar channels at HF. Whilst approaches such as the phase screen approximation have been successful, there is a need for an approach that is more easily incorporated into the ray tracing procedures that are the basis of most HF channel prediction codes. The following paper investigates such an approach.

Abstract

The mutual coherence function is an important tool in assessing the quality of communication and radar channels at HF. Whilst approaches such as the phase screen approximation have been successful, there is a need for an approach that is more easily incorporated into the ray tracing procedures that are the basis of most HF channel prediction codes. The following paper investigates such an approach.
