Radar-Based Vital Sign Detection and Drone Technology for Disaster Response
In disaster situations, providing reliable medical care is crucial, and the ability to swiftly and safely locate injured individuals can mean the difference between life and death.Search-and-rescue operations in hazardous environments often face challenges such as limited visibility, debris, and time constraints. This study explores the integration of radar-based vital sign detection with drone technology to enhance disaster response efforts and improve survival outcomes. Our research focuses on the application of advanced radar techniques to detect vital signs, including heartbeat and respiration, even through obstacles such as rubble or dense foliage.By combining these radar capabilities with autonomous drones, we propose a system that can be deployed in real-world disaster scenarios to assist first responders.Recent advancements in radio science and engineering enable the development of such a framework, which we assess through field experiments and data analysis to determine feasibility, accuracy, and practical implementation.Preliminary findings indicate that drones equipped with radar-based detection systems can significantly improve the efficiency of locating survivors in complex environments.Furthermore, the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning could enhance system reliability by filtering out noise and optimizing detection accuracy, making the technology more robust for real-world applications. In addition to discussing technological advancements, this research also considers potential limitations, ethical concerns, and necessary improvements for broader adoption. Our findings contribute to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management by offering an innovative, technology-driven approach to emergency response.By presenting this study, we aim to foster collaboration between experts in radio science, engineering, and emergency response, ultimately advancing life-saving technologies.
