Optically-Controlled PIN Diode Driver Circuit for mm-Wave Metasurface Operation
Next-generation communication links, particularly 6G systems, will employ the millimeter-wave regime for its broad available bandwidth. However, closing a link at these frequencies is challenging due to propagation loss, channel fading, and other factors.Metamaterials and their 2-D counterparts, metasurfaces, are being explored to help mitigate these challenges.Coding metasurfaces are especially interesting because they use discrete phase states to control the metasurface material properties.
