Advancements in Brain Stroke Imaging by a Portable Microwave System
Brain stroke, a major global health issue, causes millions of deaths and disabilities annually. It arises from artery occlusions or vessel ruptures that lead to brain cell death and, consequently, changes in the affected tissues. These variations allow microwave imaging, a low-cost, non-invasive, harmless technology, to perform a dielectric mapping that supports diagnosing and monitoring pathology, indicating the evolving affected area, even continuously, and then complementing computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging [1].
