Pulsar Searching with MeerKAT
Pulsar searches are a critical means by which natural laboratories for testing fundamental physics can be found.Pulsar discoveries enable the study of nanohertz-frequency gravitational waves, the limits of general relativity and alternative theories of gravity, and investigations into extreme states of matter. In this paper, we present the pulsar search instrumentation and pipeline developed for the MPIfR-MeerKAT Galactic Plane Survey (MMGPS).As a pathfinder project for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), the MMGPS survey provides a valuable baseline for future SKA pulsar searches. We will present results and their implications for SKA, including pulsar discoveries, data facility, and suggested pipeline optimisations.
