A Case of Aortic Dissection Mimicking Transient Ischemic Attack Leading to a Traffic Accident
Symptoms of aortic dissection (AD) can include sudden and severe chest pain, back pain, left shoulder pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting sensation, and loss of consciousness. These symptoms may resemble those of a transient ischemic attack (TIA) and can make an accurate diagnosis difficult. In this case presentation, a 58-year-old male patient who was brought to the Emergency Department due to a traffic accident, diagnosed with AD in the investigations, initially detected with chest pain and left hemiplegia, will be discussed. In patients presenting with TIA or ischemic stroke symptoms, accompanying symptoms should be carefully evaluated. It should be kept in mind that cases may present with neurological symptoms secondary to AD and traumas due to them.
