A flexible handling system based on bionic and varicellular mechanisms
The material flow chain is essential for transporting materials and facilitating various processes, and it is widely utilized across numerous industries. The general structure of the gripper as the end-effector in the handling system is generally a rigid opposed or three-jaw type pneumatic chuck. This type of chuck has good rigidity, simple structure, accurate positioning, and other characteristics. However, when it comes to grasping items with low rigidity, fragile surfaces, or uniquely shaped contours that cannot tolerate scratching, the limited contact area of a rigid collet proves insufficient in terms of adaptability. In this paper, a new material handling system is designed. A new type of collet is designed using bionic technology, closely related to anatomy and biology, and includes the main points of human hand structure. This type of collet is characterized by its ability to compensate for pressure distribution and its anti-scratch features, among other benefits. It can overcome the lack of adaptability of clamping shape through narrow spaces and has the advantages of modularization and strong self-adaptation. A reliable conveyor with a certain load capacity is an important part of the whole system. We have designed a flexible handling system to transport the ever-changing workpieces of the new era at an appropriate cost.
