Non-healing venous ulcers treated successfully with individualized homoeopathy– An Evidence-Based Case Series.

Venous ulcers, often referred to as stasis or varicose ulcers, are open ulcers resulting from improper venous valve functioning, most commonly in the legs. It is a common and debilitating condition in the current era that can significantly impact an individual's quality of life, affecting both the ability to work and physical appearance. Managing venous ulcers involves treating the underlying venous disease, wound care, and prevention of recurrence. Since there is a lack of evidence, the potential of homoeopathic medicines in managing venous ulcers requires further investigation through carefully designed and well-documented clinical trials. Cases Summary: The current case series presented two known cases of venous ulcers, consulted with large non-healing ulcers on the lower leg at OPD of XXXXXXXXXXX. Initially, the cases were treated in the outpatient department (OPD) without any positive change; later, both were admitted to the inpatient department (IPD). After careful case-taking and considering the totality of symptoms, Lachesis, Pulsatilla, and Sulphur were given in 50 millesimal potency (LM). In response to intervention, non-healing ulcers have started to heal, have reduced in size, and have completely healed in considerable time. Pictorial images were taken before and after the intervention for objective evidence. The leg ulcer measurement tool (LUMT) was used to assess the extent of the ulcer before and after treatment, the scores were 40 in both cases at admission and changed to 0 at discharge. The causal attribution for the outcome changes was assessed using MONARCH inventory for Homoeopathy. The scores were +9 in both cases, close to the maximum (13), showing the positive relationship between the intervention and the outcome. Therefore, this case series emphasizes the positive role of individualized homoeopathy medicine in treating venous ulcers.
