Déterminants individuels de l’hésitation vaccinale contre la grippe chez des personnes âgées dans la commune de Korhogo (Côte d’Ivoire)
Influenza vaccination practice among the elderly is a period during which patients manifest several attitudes and perceptions of hesitancy. Inherent to all cultures, these dispositions are often a set of beliefs, myths, experiences, and medical norms, passed down from generation to generation. They predetermine behaviors and respond to multiple social and cultural logics aimed at limiting or reducing vaccination practice among the elderly. This study highlights influenza vaccine hesitancy, beliefs, life experiences, and cultural logics linked to behaviors in vaccination monitoring in rural Senoufo. Using an interview guide, we interviewed a sample of 16 people using the reasoned choice technique. Analysis of the results shows that several individual factors contribute to influenza vaccine hesitancy among the elderly. These factors encompass a set of perceptions, beliefs, experiences, and psychological factors specific to each individual, which influence their decision to get vaccinated or not.
