The Importance and Application of PD Control in Modern Control System

In peoples daily life, the direct current (DC) motor is everywhere due to its simple structure and flexible control. DC motors are known for their high reliability. Their simple structure not only makes them more economical in design and manufacturing but also easier to maintain during daily use. This simplicity directly translates into a longer service life, providing users with lasting performance and reliable service. However, to achieve precise control of these electric devices, having just the motor itself is not enough. An effective control method is needed to ensure that the motor operates at the desired speed and position. At this point, proportional-derivative control (PD control) plays an important role. This paper, through a method of literature review, delves into the theoretical foundations of PD control, its pivotal significance in contemporary control systems, and its widespread applications. The analysis will encompass the mathematical principles of PD control, its benefits and constraints, and the practical implementation/ strategies. Furthermore, the paper will explore the synergistic integration of PD control with other advanced control methodologies to enhance overall system performance.
