Tangential excision for amyloidosis cutis dyschromica using dermatome – a case report
Background. Amyloidosis cutis dyschromica (ACD) is a rare subtype of primary cutaneous amyloidosis. It is characterized by four diagnostic criteria: hyperpigmented patches, little to no pruritus, onset prior to puberty, and focal papillary amyloid deposition. Case report. A 58-year-old Acehnese woman presented with progressive itching and skin darkening for about twenty years, with onset later than typically seen in ACD. On physical examination, diffuse reticulate hyperpigmented patches and patchy hypopigmented macules were observed on both legs. Conclusion. Tangential excision using a dermatome in ACD achieved good results, providing stable depth of skin removal and satisfactory wound healing.
