Research on axial damping performance of the metal hose

The damping in metal hoses is primarily Coulomb damping generated by the friction of metal wires. Due to the large number of metal wires in the metal mesh sleeve, and the contact state between the wires is difficult to quantify under different loading conditions, so its damping characteristics are no longer a single friction characteristic between the contact surfaces, but show the characteristics of structural damping. In this paper, the Bouc-Wen model is used to describe the damping performance of metal hoses. To consider the nonlinear behavior of metal hoses, the Bouc-Wen model is modified. The modified Bouc-Wen model can effectively describe the hysteresis phenomenon in metal hoses. In order to make the Bouc-Wen model more accurately describe the hysteresis loop of metal hoses, it is necessary to combine simulation data to identify the parameters of the Bouc-Wen model. The particle swarm algorithm is used to identify the parameters, with a root mean square error of 2.32 compared to the simulation data, demonstrating good accuracy in the identification. This achieves the characterization of the damping performance of metal hoses and provides a basis for the subsequent dynamic response of metal hoses.
