IoT-Based Health Monitoring System for Cupping Therapy
The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in healthcare enables real-time patient monitoring. In traditional cupping therapy (Hijama), vital health parameters—such as heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and blood pressure—are often unavailable to patients and healthcare providers before and after treatment. To address this gap, this study develops an IoT-based health monitoring system using an ESP32 microcontroller as both controller and IoT gateway. The system measures heart rate and blood oxygen with an oximeter sensor and blood pressure using an oscillometric method with a pressure transducer and motor pump. Data are transmitted to a web-based dashboard, developed with React and Vite, and stored in a Google Firebase Realtime Database for real-time and historical monitoring. Tested on three patients, the system successfully tracked vital signs before and after cupping therapy, demonstrating its potential to improve post-therapy care and support informed treatment decisions.
