Guideline of Integrated Winding for Dual Mechanical-Port Machines

Transportation electrification is a key technology for addressing environmental issues and achieving carbon neutrality. The dual mechanical-port dual electrical-port machine represents a cutting-edge advancement in the field of transportation electrification. Traditional dual electrical-port machines require the injection of two distinct currents to generate magnetic fields with different pole pair numbers. In contrast, integrated windings can achieve the generation of magnetic fields with varying pole pair numbers through controlled manipulation of the injected current. This approach not only simplifies the manufacturing process but also reduces losses. Currently, there is no general guideline on how to design the integrated winding. This paper provides a comprehensive guide on the application of integrated windings, including potential combinations, requirements for pitch, and decoupling issues. Finally, finite element method (FEM) analysis is conducted to draw conclusions regarding different configurations of integrated windings in a 24-slot motor, thereby validating the proposed methodologies.
