Exploring the applicability of Edutech through Short Bouts of Physical Activity in elementary schools

The purpose of this study is to analyze learning satisfaction and educational effectiveness after using T-BOX, a physical education technology, in the school field, and to identify the good points and improvements of the device. To those goals, a group of experts (two professors, one doctor of pedagogy, one doctor of physical education, and two teachers of physical education) was formed to review the validity and reliabilityof the survey tool, and a total of 39 students in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades of five elementary schools in Chungbuk were surveyed. Two more students who responded sincerely conducted a satisfaction survey through in-depth interviews. Among the general characteristics, there were significant differences in exercise level and physical education preference excluding gender. Students with high or insufficient exercise levels (F=4.531 and p=0.015) and confidence (F=2.861, p=0.049) were found to be higher than those of ordinary students, and students with high or low preference for physical education (F=3.106, p=0.041) were found to be higher than those of ordinary students. In addition, when the results of the students’ narrative and in-depth interview responses to the use of T-BOX were combined, the most important factor was the improvement of interest and physical strength, and the common disadvantage was the device malfunction and measurement error. FGI results, it was commonly noted that the introduction of EduTech stimulates students’ interest. however, there is a need to improve issues related to devices not functioning properly. In addition, regarding the use of EduTech in physical education, respondents stated that various programs are needed to increase physical activity and improve physical fitness. Based on these results, it is expected that it can be used as basic data necessary to find the direction for Edutech in school Physical Education.
