The hybrid IT sourcing model: Will it work for media enterprises?
The convergence of digital acceleration and global media demands has compelled enterprises to rethink their IT sourcing strategies. This teaching case examines global media organization’s strategic pivot toward hybrid IT sourcing a model that blends internal capabilities with geographically distributed vendor partnerships. By integrating cloud-based production workflows, AI-enhanced content tools, and collaborative editing platforms, the enterprise achieved greater agility in content creation and distribution. Though, the transition also surfaced critical tensions around cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and cross-cultural coordination. Positioned within the broader evolution of IT sourcing from traditional outsourcing to cloud-native ecosystems the case encourages learners to assess hybrid sourcing as a dynamic, context-sensitive strategy. It offers a nuanced exploration of how media enterprises can balance innovation with governance, and operational speed with ethical responsibility, to build a resilient and future-ready digital backbone.
