Development of an Automated Used Cooking Oil Collection System with IoT Integration
Improper disposal of used cooking oil (UCO) can cause significant harm to the environment and public health, leading to water and soil pollution while raising infrastructure maintenance costs. Currently, most UCO collection is carried out manually, therefore an automated collection system is introduced. This paper reports the development of an automated UCO collection system integrated with IoT technology. The key components are a microcontroller, load cell, ultrasonic sensor, solenoid valve and TFT LCD screen. This system automates UCO management tasks which can reduce manual labor and minimizes operational errors. Using ESP32 microcontroller, real-time data can be transmitted to the Blynk application, enabling remote monitoring and control. The system also features automated alerts, enhancing scheduling efficiency and streamlining the UCO collection process. The result shows that this project has successfully achieved the objective which is to develop a functional prototype. Overall, this automation collection system which integrated with IoT technology has improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the UCO collection system.
