Adaptive Rodrigues Antenna Alignment for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) face difficulties maintaining reliable long-distance communication with ground stations when flight conditions change dynamically. Omnidirectional antennas serve common use but their restricted range together with weak signal quality leads to performance limitations during missions. The study introduces a reliable method to perform real-time directional antenna alignment for UAVs which maintains the persistent consideration of pitch, roll, and yaw attitude changes through Rodrigues rotation formula. The simulation outcomes show that directional antennas generate enhanced signal reception by 15 dB when measured through received signal strength indicator (RSSI) compared to conventional whip antennas. The implemented method strikes a balance between straightforward system design and precise alignment functionality which enhances its practicality for current UAV communications systems.
