An anti-offset misalignment compensated arc coil design for underwater IPT systems

Submarine ocean currents can easily cause multi-directional misplacement of the coupling mechanism of the wireless charging system of AUVs, leading to a decrease in power supply efficiency and value. Therefore, this paper focuses on the research and design of the anti-offset performance of the arc coupling coil for AUVs, and proposes a new misalignment-compensated arc coil structure, which can establish a relationship model between the mutual inductance M, the number of turns N<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">p1(2)</inf>, and the misalignment distance l. Then, it can realize the optimized design of the coil's key structural parameters. Finally, an experimental platform is built to verify the accuracy of the mutual inductance model and the anti-offset performance of the misplacement compensation arc coil. When the horizontal offset of the coil is 80 mm, its mutual inductance retention-ability was improved by 19.23%, and the anti-rotation offset range could reach [-15 °, 15 °]. When the horizontal offset of the coil is 30 mm, the coil's IPT system output voltage fluctuation rate is 0.78%, while the voltage fluctuation rate of the unipolar arc coil is 7.7%.
