Virtual Array-Based Localization Technology for Ship Surface Corrosion

With the advancement of globalization, maritime transportation has become a vital component of international trade. However, the corrosion of ships in marine environments significantly compromises their safety performance and service life. Therefore, research on structural health monitoring of ships using electric field distribution holds significant importance for extending vessel lifespan and ensuring navigation safety. This paper proposes a virtual array-based localization technique for ship surface corrosion. By integrating data from shipboard current monitoring systems and hull potential monitoring systems, the method achieves high-precision localization of corrosion points on hull surfaces through subspace fitting algorithms. To address the limitation of limited monitoring electrodes, the introduction of virtual arrays effectively enhances data volume and improves corrosion point localization accuracy. Simulation results demonstrate that this method can effectively achieve ship corrosion localization, providing reliable technical support for corrosion monitoring and maintenance in maritime vessels.
