Magnetic field-assisted gliding arc discharge for toluene destruction in simulated producer gas: influence of water and O2 addition
A magnetically accelerated gliding arc (MAGA) discharge reactor was used for tar destruction in a simulated producer gas derived from biomass gasification. Toluene was chosen as the representative tar model compound. MAGA demonstrated superior discharge characteristics and reaction performance, achieving a maximum toluene conversion of and an energy yield of 32.6 g/kWh when the carrier gas contains 3% volumetric water vapor. Compared to the conventional gliding arc discharge, MAGA plasma demonstrated the significant potential for enhancing tar destruction efficiency and energy yield.
