Mycorrhizal Barriers to the Upslope Migration of Tropical Trees

ABSTRACT Mycorrhizae can impact soil nutrient cycling, with reduced nitrogen availability and increased litter depth beneath ectomycorrhizal Fagales. The presence of Fagales‐dominated montane forests in parts of Asia and Central America could impose a significant barrier to the upslope migration of lowland arbuscular mycorrhizal tree species migrating under climate change.

Abstract

The presence of Fagales‐dominated montane forests in parts of Asia and Central America could impose a significant barrier to the upslope migration of lowland arbuscular mycorrhizal tree species migrating under climate change.
