Brain Imaging Manifestations of Parasitic and Vector-Transmitted Diseases
Parasitic and vector-borne infections of the brain represent a diverse array of conditions with substantial global health implications, especially in resource-limited settings. These infections can lead to a spectrum of neurologic manifestations ranging from subtle symptoms to life-threatening complications and can result in life-long sequelae. Medical imaging plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis and management of these infections, providing insights into their anatomic localization, the extent of tissue involvement, and disease progression. This Pictorial Essay explores the radiologic aspects of select parasitic and vector-borne infections in the brain. Understanding the neuroradiologic manifestations of these infections is crucial for timely intervention and improved patient outcomes.
