Experimental Study and Application of Underground Gasification Characteristics of Long Flame Coal in Xinjiang Oilfield

Abstract Underground coal gasification technology is an advanced technology for coal gasification directly in the coal seam. By injecting oxidants, the combustion reaction inside the coal seam is triggered to generate syngas. This technology can not only effectively utilize the coal resources that are difficult to mine in the deep, but also significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which has important economic and environmental significance. Xinjiang Oilfield is rich in coal resources. The study of its underground gasification characteristics not only helps to develop local energy resources, but also provides a reference for the development of coal resources in similar areas. In this paper, the gasification characteristics of long flame coal in Xinjiang oilfield were systematically studied by synchronous thermal analysis technology. The results show that the heating rate, gas injection rate and oxygen content are the main controlling factors affecting the gasification process. Through kinetic analysis, the gasification reaction mechanism and activation energy of long flame coal are determined, which provides a basic support for the construction of underground coal gasification test area in Xinjiang Oilfield.
