Research and Application of Quantitative Techniques for Evaluating Sub-Salt Seismic Data Quality: A Case Study of OBN Data from the Tupi Field, Brazil

Abstract The technological advancements in oilfield exploration and development have led to an increase in the volume and complexity of seismic acquisition data. As a result, the conventional approach for evaluating the quality of seismic data is no longer sufficient to meet the requirements for modern oil and gas exploration and development. In this study, an expert system and seismic attribute combination is proposed to evaluate the seismic data of sub-salt target layer. The method begins by establishing 3D data quality evaluation criteria, then explore the potential influence relationships between the quality of sub-salt seismic data and the attributes of the salt rock and the stratigraphy above the salt using preferred seismic attributes, and establishes a geostatistical model. The quality of subsalt seismic data can be quantitatively evaluated using the model. Application results shows that this approach significantly enhances the efficiency and accuracy of sub-salt seismic data quality evaluation, providing reliable data support for oil and gas exploration and development.
