A novel oilfield multi-source heterogeneous data collection and unified management platform

Abstract In the context of oilfield digitization, the collection, transmission, integration, and management of massive multi-source heterogeneous data face huge challenges. The present study developed a novel oilfield multi-source heterogeneous data acquisition and management platform based on the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G, and other technologies to address these issues. The platform integrated and developed a variety of protocols such as OPC, Modbus, and IEC103, enabling the collection of data from multiple sources through programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and remote terminal units (RTUs). The socket communication principle was employed to convert data, and 5G communication technology was introduced for high-speed and stable data transmission. Furthermore, a distributed classification storage system was established for the storage and management of whole-domain data, and real-time presentation and monitoring were provided at the end of the cloud platform. The platform has been successfully applied in Qingcheng Oilfield, with more than 100,000 collection and monitoring points. The maximum delay of data collection was less than 3.0s, demonstrating the effectiveness of the platform and greatly supporting the digital transformation of the oilfield.
