Study on Flow Potential Adjustment Technology and Remaining Oil Tapping Potential in Fractured Vuggy Reservoirs
Abstract Fractured vuggy carbonate reservoir has potential anisotropy and heterogeneity, and its randomly developed structure makes inter-well connectivity, oil-water flow law and remaining oil distribution more complex. In the present study, a theoretical model of flow potential in fractured vuggy reservoirs was developed based on the geology and flow characteristics of these reservoirs. We deduced a three-dimensional fluid potential calculation formula, and established a fluid potential characterization technique using a numerical simulation method. The flow potential distribution and its change law in the production process were studied through the mechanism model of the typical crevice structure of the double-hole edge water. The three main control factors affecting the flow potential adjustment effect identified in this study were the multiple of the water body, the proportion, and the level of drainage and mining. The results demonstrated that when the double hole edge water model adjusted the flow potential, the production well efficiency and water cut reduction range were controlled in a good range. Among the three main control factors that affect the effect of flow potential adjustment, the multiple of the water body is the decisive factor. When the multiple of the water body was less than ten times, the effect of flow potential adjustment was good. However, at the same time, it will lead to problems such as insufficient energy in the reservoir: the greater the amount of liquid discharged from the drainage well, the better the water control effect for the production well.
