Application of Dual-phase Medium Hydrocarbon Detection Technology in W Oilfield
Abstract The W oilfield is situated in the south of South Turgay basin. Its reservoir is characterized as a structural-lithologic type. The reservoir exhibits rapid lateral variation, frequent sand-mud interbedding, and a thin single sand body, which constrain the efficient development of the oil-field. This study employs dual-phase medium hydrocarbon detection technology to forecast prospective oil and gas areas. On the basis of fine well-seismic calibration, and utilizing the frequency spectrum features described as ‘low-frequency enhancement coupled with high-frequency attenuation’ within the dual-phase medium, the multi-time window spectrum analysis is carried out near the drilled boreholes to determine the optimal time window and pick up the sensitive low and high-frequency bands. By analyzing the ratio of low-frequency and high-frequency energy, the high-yield reservoir in the undrilled area is deter-mined. The findings indicate a 90% correlation between the fluid detection results and the drilled wells, indicating that the dual-phase medium hydrocarbon detection technology may be the key technology for detecting and re-recognizing the remaining oil in the potential target area.
