Compact High-Efficiency Phase Modulators for Compression-Free Sensing in Super-High-Frequency Systems

Thin-film lithium niobate is an ideal candidate for the enhancement of RF photonic systems, replacing legacy bulk lithium niobate modulators. With higher field confinement and enhanced processing techniques, we propose a slow-wave enhanced high-efficiency modulator capable of sub 2 V drive voltages for compression-free sensing.

Abstract

Thin-film lithium niobate is an ideal candidate for the enhancement of RF photonic systems, replacing legacy bulk lithium niobate modulators. With higher field confinement and enhanced processing techniques, we propose a slow-wave enhanced high-efficiency modulator capable of sub 2 V drive voltages for compression-free sensing.
