Abstract

We design and characterize mid-infrared guided mode resonance structures with nano-scale slots designed to strongly confine long-wavelength light to ultra-subwavelength volumes. Simulations show <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\sim 30 \times$</tex> enhancement of electric field within the slots, tunable with incidence angle and slot size.
