Comprehensive Stability Analyses for Hybrid AC/DC/DS Microgrids with Multilateral Inertia Sharing Strategy

Hybrid AC/DC/DS microgrids (MGs) provide an effective solution for integrating diverse distributed energy resources (DERs) and enhancing renewable energy absorption. However, the increasing use of low-inertia power electronic converters significantly reduces system inertia. Global inertia sharing across AC, DC, and DS subgrids enables coordinated utilization of distributed inertia resources for global transient support. However, a systematic evaluation of how global inertia sharing affects system stability margins is still lacking. In addition, current studies primarily model individual subgrid dynamics, overlooking the coupling interactions introduced by inertia sharing across subgrids. To address these gaps, this paper derives small-signal models for each subgrid and integrates them into a comprehensive stability analyses model for hybrid AC/DC/DS MG. The impact of global inertia sharing on system stability margins is then evaluated through eigenvalue analysis and time-domain simulations.
