Spatio-Temporal Coherence of Gain-Switched Pulses in a Large Array of Semiconductor Lasers

Strong-amplitude electrical modulation triggers short pulses with high spatial coherence in large arrays of semiconductor lasers subject to global coupling provided by optical feedback. In contrast, we show that temporal coherence is strongly affected by the modulation frequency, which dictates the optimized range of parameters.

Abstract

Strong-amplitude electrical modulation triggers short pulses with high spatial coherence in large arrays of semiconductor lasers subject to global coupling provided by optical feedback. In contrast, we show that temporal coherence is strongly affected by the modulation frequency, which dictates the optimized range of parameters.
