GHz RF DACs and ADCs for High-Bandwidth Silicon Photonic CNN Accelerators

Silicon photonic accelerators offer high parallelism but face I/O bottlenecks. This paper presents 16-channel RF DACs/ADCs at 1.966 GSps on RFSoC-FPGA for driving a photonic accelerator. The system achieved 71.95 dB SNR, 11.66 ENOB, 81.11 dB SFDR, and 1 GHz image processing, improving optical computing.

Abstract

Silicon photonic accelerators offer high parallelism but face I/O bottlenecks. This paper presents 16-channel RF DACs/ADCs at 1.966 GSps on RFSoC-FPGA for driving a photonic accelerator. The system achieved 71.95 dB SNR, 11.66 ENOB, 81.11 dB SFDR, and 1 GHz image processing, improving optical computing.
