Exploring the Role of Irradiance on Bidirectional Control of Engineered Microbes
We built a living light sensor from engineered Escherichia coli that can sense and respond to visible light and elicit changes in pH to power display components. By varying blue light irradiance, we identified minimum dosage parameters that enable spatiotemporal control of pH responsive hydrogels through controlled protein production.
