Delay Minimization for Movable Antenna-Enabled Millimeter-Wave MEC System
To decrease delay of mobile edge computing (MEC) systems, this paper proposes the integration of movable antennas (MAs) and millimeter-wave (mm-wave) into MEC systems to enhance spatial degrees of freedom, where the MAs are configured as multiple independently movable uniform planar arrays (UPAs). The total system delay has been minimized through alternating optimization of resource allocation (e.g. hybrid beamforming, MA positioning). In addition, we employ successive convex approximation, manifold optimization, and particle swarm optimization to iteratively solve the subproblems. Then, we compare the achievable minimum system delay under various antenna numbers, computational task size, and maximum energy consumption constraints. In addition, by comparing the effect of different deployment modes, the better deployment mode for the system is determined. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed MA mm-wave MEC system achieves lower system delay compared to conventional architectures.
