A General Channel Model for Cislunar Communication

The Moon possesses abundant natural resources, and with the rapid progress of space technology, the establishment of a fundamental Earth-Moon space network in the near future represents a significant developmental trend. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the Earth-Moon communication channel characteristics within the framework of the prospective Earth-Moon network architecture and proposes a general channel model. The proposed model is compatible with the channel characteristics of the three primary links in the Earth-Moon communication chain across various parameter configurations. The study concludes with an analytical evaluation of the bit-error-rate (BER) and packet-error-rate (PER) performance for the proposed model.
