Analysis of the temperature field of gear hybrid lubrication meshing surfaces considering surface roughness characteristics

Abstract Establishing a mathematical model for mixed lubrication that takes into account rough surfaces is of great significance for improving the cooling performance of gear lubrication systems. This paper employs thermoelastic flow lubrication theory and the non-Gaussian distribution characteristics of the rough surface to calculate the pressure, thickness, and temperature distribution of the oil film during meshing. The theoretical model’s validity is verified through steady-state temperature measurement experiments. The results indicate that the hybrid lubrication model considering rough surfaces better aligns with actual operating conditions.
