The structural mechanical analysis and test research on the ramp area of the composite honeycomb panel
Abstract Due to the advantages of high specific strength and specific stiffness, the composite honeycomb structures are widely used in civil airliners and other fields. This paper takes the ramp area structure of the composite honeycomb panel as the research object, and performs structural mechanical tests on test pieces of the two configurations of pre-embedded defect configuration and BVID configuration to get the carrying capacity and failure modes. The following conclusions can be drawn from the tests: the average fracture load of the pre-embedded defect configuration test piece is 90.50 kN at room temperature, and the average fracture load of the BVID configuration test piece is 75.07 kN at room temperature. The results show that the carrying capacity of the BVID configuration test piece is lower than the carrying capacity of the pre-embedded defect configuration test piece. The failure modes of the BVID impact damage test piece are all transverse fracture failures along the middle of the impact point, which is mainly due to the destruction of fibers and the honeycomb structure caused by the impact. The carrying loads of the BVID configuration test piece will drop drastically after arriving at the fracture load, while the pre-embedded defect configuration test piece will drop undulately. This paper provides the reference basis for the airworthiness verification and installation application in the ramp area of the composite honeycomb panel of the elevator of the tail plane of the subsequent aircraft.
