Application of the Fuzzy Mamdani Method in Determining Wages of Palm Oil Plantation Workers

The palm oil industry in Indonesia employs millions of workers, particularly in the harvesting of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB). Conventional wage systems often cause unfairness as they only consider harvest quantity without accounting for factors such as harvesting distance, weather conditions, and road conditions. This study aims to design a fairer, more objective, and transparent wage determination system for palm oil workers using the Fuzzy Mamdani method. Input variables include the amount of FFB, harvesting distance, weather conditions, and road conditions, while the output is the recommended wage/bonus. Data were obtained from 45 respondents at PT CSIL, Sei Pertahanan Village, through observation, interviews, and literature review. The process involved fuzzification, rule formulation, Mamdani inference, and defuzzification using the centroid method. Testing results indicate that the system provides wage recommendations consistent with field conditions, reduces subjectivity, and improves calculation accuracy. The method is effective as a decision support system and can be widely applied in the plantation sector to enhance fairness and productivity.
